Channel 4 – Mirror On The Industry
Presented by Joe Hall (Senior Research Executive) and Bronte Skelcher Maxwell (Commercial Insight Business Partner)
“Mirror On The Industry” is Channel 4’s long-running study, in partnership with Tapestry, that tracks the level of representation and quality of portrayal across TV advertising in the UK. This session will reflect on the 6,000 ads we have audited across the last six years, alongside the 12,000 consumers we have surveyed. The research offers insights on where the industry has stagnated and progressed, and where the opportunities are to create both societal and business impact.
BBC News Audiences: The News Evolution - Making the BBC Essential for Youth Audiences
Presented by Billie Bowbrick, Senior Research Executive
The News Evolution is a qualitative research project conducted in collaboration with Truth Consulting. The project explores how news fits into the lives of 16-24-year-olds, and how BBC News can better serve young audiences. Using a mixed qualitative approach, including street intercepts, online ethnographies and friendship triads, the research builds a rich understanding of young people’s lives, media behaviours, and relationship with news.
the7stars - Cultural Codes
Presented by Shea Brennan, Insight Manager
Cultural Codes are a mixed-method research project conducted by the7stars. Crafted as a way to understand the long-term cultural zeitgeist, the codes are designed to reflect the main trends currently shaping how we feel, behave and consume. In our 3rd edition, we focus on the trends impact amongst 18-34s as they tend to be at the cultural cutting edge of emerging trends and act as a strong predictor of things to come. Using a multi-survey approach alongside in-depth video diaries and social listening, we have identified eight distinct codes at the heart of UK culture for the upcoming year.
