The Publishers Audience Measurement Company (PAMCo) is the governing body which oversees audience measurement for the published media industry. PAMCo is seeking a Data Services Manager to support the Research Director in delivering PAMCo’s day to day service and the ongoing programme of testing and development. The role will also deliver a monthly training programme for PAMCo subscribers, explaining the PAMCo methodology within the wider context of industry audience measurement.
Working for a Joint Industry Currency gives the opportunity to work with senior and experienced people from across the industry from both newspaper and magazine publishers and media agencies. It also gives experience of working with major research suppliers, principally Ipsos.
Working in a small team means the candidate will have a broad understanding of not just how the data is used but also how it fits into the wider commercial context.
This is a real opportunity to equip the candidate with a broad skill set and is rare in combining research skills with the opportunity to present and meet with both insight and commercial people in the ad industry.
The Role
The Data Services Manager is a newly created role reporting to the PAMCo Research Director. The primary focus will be:
- To work with PAMCo’s research partners to maintain the highest possible standards of accuracy of the data, and to ensure the timely delivery of the PAMCo data
- To support the Research Director and Technical Consultant with the evolution and development of the PAMCo methodology
- To deliver a monthly training presentation to PAMCo subscribers working with the CEO and Research Director as required
Responsibilities
- Working with the Research Director, liaising as necessary with Ipsos with regard to the day-to-day management of the PAMCo survey including:
- Carrying out data checks before the data release
- Ensure that deadlines for the delivery of the data are maintained
- Ensure that survey media lists are regularly updated
- Coordinating response to PAMCo subscribers and stakeholders with respect to requests and data queries over and above those dealt with by the Ipsos Helplin
- Working with PAMCo’s data partners to ensure labelling and structure of the dataset are respected on their systems
- Managing and updating the PAMCo subscriber section at each data release
- Liaise with website provider to ensure that the PAMCo website is kept up-to-date and relevant
- Analysing, interpreting & presenting the PAMCo data in such a way as to encourage maximum use and value for the PAMCo subscribers
- Attend and take notes of monthly Liaison & Technical Committee meetings
- Provide data for 3rd party contracts
Experience/Background
The candidate should ideally have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within a research department of an advertising agency, media owner or research company.
The candidate should be a self-starter, with the ability to work unsupervised. The candidate should be highly organised and able to take on greater autonomy whilst retaining excellent attention to detail and pro-activeness.
They should have good analytical and insight skills, as well as a good numeracy and an ability to uncover insights from research data.
A basic understanding of different research methodologies and experience of questionnaire design/management is an advantage.
Experience of working with commercial teams who make use of data for planning/buying and selling purposes will also be helpful.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Telmar, Kantar Choices, IMS Clear Decisions or similar data analysis tool
- Knowledge of analytical tools such as R, SQL or Tableau
How you’ll work
The Data Services Manager is a full-time role suitable for hybrid working. PAMCo office is located a five min walk from Waterloo and Southwark stations.
Remuneration
The role is full time with a salary of up to £40k pa DOE + benefits.
