The MRG currently has between 500-600 members per year from a variety of organisations, including media owners, JICs, media planning agencies, market research agencies, media analysts, commentators, consultants and specialists in research data collection and analysis.
Membership costs just £55 for 12 months from signing up. Benefits include access to:
- Evening meetings: free for members, providing an opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest industry work. The meetings cover a broad range of media research topics and always inspire lively debate. Meetings are held about once a month and are also a great chance to meet other people in the industry over pre and post meeting drinks.
- Annual conference: the MRG hold a conference every year alternating between a one day conference in London and a 3 day overseas conference.
- Training courses: the MRG’s courses are highly regarded. The Tools of the Trade has been running for 40 years and continues to offer a great overview of different research techniques and currencies for those new to the media industry. For those who have been working in the industry for a while we run a planning course which focuses on applying research to a client brief. Both of these courses are taught by leading practitioners in their fields and as a non profit organisation, offer incredible value for money.
- Social events: The MRG originated as a wine tasting club and the social aspect still plays a key role in providing an opportunity to meet people from other areas of the industry. Our membership reflects all areas of the industry; research suppliers, media owners, media agency, clients and consultants. We run a lively social side with a summer and Christmas party. These provide an opportunity to meet people across the industry and establish valuable contacts. As well as the parties we hold a keenly contested quiz and, of course, occasional wine tastings.
