Job Purpose: The key objective of this role is to support the sales team and provide them with persuasive audience insight and research that helps prove cinema’s unique value as part of an advertiser’s AV schedule.

The role
Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for helping the sales team with insight/data requests and brief responses from media agencies and clients, using industry-standard resources (e.g. TGI, TouchPoints) and DCM’s own insight to build a compelling case for cinema.
  • Using insight tools such as TGI, Touchpoints, Ad Intel, Aston (DCM’s internal planning system), Cinemapper (DCM’s internal proximity planning tool) to answer general queries internally and externally – and where appropriate assist Research & Insight Manager in training sales team to become more self-sufficient on these tools.
  • Take the lead role (with support from Research & Insight Manager) in running ad effectiveness projects for brands – liaising with research & media agencies, finalising questionnaires and the final presentation narrative ahead of debriefing all parties involved – and maximising their value to the business.
  • Write case studies of successful ad effectiveness projects and awards entries that can help promote cinema’s effectiveness within the AV mix – and work with the sales team to ensure these are disseminated to relevant target clients.
  • Ensuring all sales presentations, DCM website and marketing communications (e.g. Audience Insights) contain the latest research and that the data is used to its best advantage to maximise revenue
  • Support Content Business Director to ensure sales presentations and marketing communications contain the latest film information, imagery, insight & TVR data
  • Presenting insight and content updates at internal company meetings and externally to media agencies and clients
  • Supporting the Research & Insight Manager on major annual insight projects that are designed to answer business needs and strategic objectives

Development opportunities

  • Manage the running of the Film Monitor survey – liaising with the appointed research agency, subscribers (where necessary) and ensuring internally the sales team are aware of the latest data available
  • Manage the running of FAME – liaising with the appointed research agency and Pearl & Dean on questionnaire development, data checks and release to subscribers.
  • Work alongside the Business Directors, and specifically the Content Business Director, to think strategically and create insight-led narratives for key releases across the year to maximise revenue taken in major blockbusters.
  • Support Business Director (Trading & Commercial) in analysing DCM sales data to help inform decision-making and strategy around how best to maximise revenue

Key competencies

  • Knowledge of the UK media and advertising market
  • Commercially driven and excellent analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and able to work effectively to set deadlines
  • Good understanding of quantitative research and questionnaire design
  • Great project management skills
  • Have excellent presentation skills and the ability to turn data into compelling insight-led narratives
  • Have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good Microsoft Office skills – particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Crosstab software (e.g. Telmar or Choices) and research tools such as Touchpoints, TGI, and Nielsen AdIntel would be advantageous

The person

  • Enthusiastic self-starter who is keen to learn

  • Enjoy working in a team, but able to also use their own initiative and work independently
  • Have a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Able to communicate, build relationships and influence people at all levels
  • A passion for film is welcome, but not essential

Experience

  • Having c.12 months experience in a research, insight or planning role would be beneficial

Salary
£25-30k
